A Nigerian businessman in South Africa has refused to shut down his business despite growing fears and tensions surrounding renewed xenophobic attacks, saying doing so would leave dozens of South Africans without a source of livelihood.
Speaking in a viral video circulating on social media, the businessman said he employs more than 35 South Africans and could not bring himself to close his shop and leave the country despite concerns for his safety.
“If I lock my shop and leave, over 35 South Africans will be displaced,” he said.
