The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have moved closer to the completion of a major engineering operation dubbed the “Race to Sawua,” with military engineers now having just six kilometres left to cover after successfully navigating 170 kilometres of challenging terrain.
In an update shared by the Ghana Armed Forces on September 3, the military highlighted the remarkable progress made by its engineers, who have demonstrated what it described as exceptional grit, discipline and precision throughout the demanding operation. With the total distance standing at 176 kilometres, the completion of 170 kilometres means the team has covered more than 96 percent of the route, leaving only a final six-kilometre stretch before reaching Sawua.
The operation has placed the engineering capabilities of the Ghana Armed Forces in the spotlight, as personnel continue to work through difficult terrain while maintaining the discipline and determination associated with military operations.
