Captain Kylian Mbappé once again proved decisive for Les Bleus, opening the scoring and adding another goal later in the match to secure his second consecutive brace of the tournament.

Having scored twice in France’s previous outing, Mbappé is quickly emerging as one of the standout performers of the World Cup.

France controlled large portions of the match and rarely looked troubled, strengthening their position as one of the favourites to challenge for the trophy.

Norway 3-2 Senegal: Haaland’s Hot Streak Continues

Senegal entered the match determined to bounce back from their opening defeat, but Norway once again demonstrated why they are one of the most dangerous attacking teams in the competition.

Erling Haaland continued his remarkable scoring form, netting another brace after also scoring twice in Norway’s first game.

The Norwegians built a strong lead and looked in control for much of the contest.

To their credit, Senegal refused to surrender. The Lions of Teranga pushed forward in the closing stages and scored twice in an attempt to rescue a result, but their comeback arrived too late.

The match ended 3-2 in favour of Norway, who secured qualification to the next round of the tournament.

The celebrations that followed were among the most memorable moments of the day. After the final whistle, the entire Norwegian squad sat on the pitch and joined their supporters in a rowing celebration, moving in unison with the fans inside the stadium.

The scene quickly drew attention across social media, with many supporters praising the connection between the team and its fans.

It was a simple but powerful moment that captured one of the best aspects of the World Cup: football’s ability to bring players and supporters together in celebration.

For Senegal, the result was another disappointing defeat. For Norway, it was a night of goals, qualification and a celebration their fans are unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Algeria 2-1 Jordan: Desert Warriors Respond

After a frustrating opening match, Algeria produced the response their supporters had been hoping for.

Playing at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, the Desert Warriors found themselves trailing after Jordan struck first in a fiercely contested encounter.

Rather than allowing the setback to derail them, Algeria showed character and determination to fight their way back into the game.

With both sides desperate for a positive result, the contest remained competitive throughout, but Algeria ultimately found the answers when it mattered most.

The North Africans overturned the deficit to secure a 2-1 victory and claim their first three points of the tournament.

The result keeps Algeria’s hopes alive and gives them valuable momentum heading into their remaining group-stage fixtures.

Final Whistle

Another day at the 2026 FIFA World Cup brought more standout performances from some of football’s biggest names.

Mbappé continued his scoring streak for France, Haaland once again inspired Norway to victory, and Algeria showed resilience to earn an important comeback win over Jordan.

As the group stage progresses, the race for qualification is becoming increasingly intense, with every result carrying greater significance.
